Admission To Ph.D / M.Tech.(Research) Programmes 

Starting Spring Semester (January), 2013-14.

Applications are invited online from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech.(Research) Programmes of the Institute with or without fellowship for Spring Semester 2013-14. The programs are being offered in the following streams :

1. Biotechnology and Medical Engineering :Ph.D only
2. Ceramic Engineering : Ph.D & M.Tech (Research)

Eligibility Criteria (for Ph.D.) :

The minimum qualification required for admission to Ph.D. programme in Engineering, Science, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences is one of the following :

1. M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate in both B.Tech. (or M.Sc./B.Pharm/ MCA) and M.Tech. levels from a recognized technical Institute or University.
2. B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA of 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate.
3. M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with CGPA 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines.
4. M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with CGPA 6.5 or 60 percent marks in aggregate.

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for Ph.D. in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences:  

• M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Eligibility Criteria (for MS Research) :

The minimum qualification required for admission to M.Tech (Research) programme in Engineering, Science, Management, and Humanities & Social Science is one of the following:

• B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).
• M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) in relevant disciplines.
• M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for M.Tech.(R). in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences :

• M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA. 

Financial Support :

• Fellowships/Assistantships are available to meritorious Ph.D. and M.Tech (Res) students of all departments.
• Apart from the Institute fellowship, applications are also invited from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech (Research) Programmes under Centre of Excellence (CoE) on "Orthopedic Tissue Engineering and Rehabilitation" in BM department.
  The fellowship will be given from special Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme - Centre of Excellence (TEQIP-CoE) grant as long as the project is in operation. Ph .D.
  students will be automatically transferred to institute fellowship on completion of the project, provided they satisfy the Institute Fellowship norms . The total duration of the fellowship is limited to 4 or 5 years as stated in table above.
  The academic eligibility and selection procedure is same as that mentioned above.
• Candidates with individual external fellowships (CSIR/UGC NET/DST/INSPIRE etc.) are invited to apply. The selection process will be same as that for other candidates.

Interested candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria may submit online application at http://application.nitrkl.ac.in following the instructions.

1. use Internet Explorer browser version 6.0 or above
2. read the advertisement carefully
3. read the instructions to fill up the online application form 
4. fill up and submit the online pplication form accordingly
5. pay application fee of Rs.500/- online from online application portal.
6. Sponsored candidates are required to submit the scannedcopy of the sponsorship certificate while submitting online application.

Applicants are not required to send hard copy of the application form or any other document to NIT Rourkela. However, candidates who will be called for interview will be required to submit signed copy of the application form, a set of Xerox copies of all certificates and original sponsorship certificate (for sponsored candidates only) at the time of interview. They also need to produce original certificates from HSC onwards for verification. The same will be forwarded to the Academic Office by the department for record.

Ph.D. programmes @ Tezpur University for 2013-14 Spring Session

Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994. The objects of this Central University as envisaged in the statutes are that it shall strive to offer employment oriented and interdisciplinary courses to meet the regional to national aspirations and the development of the state of Assam and also offer courses and promote research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in the emerging areas in Science and Technology. Applications in prescribed format are invited from the eligible candidates for admission into the Ph.D. programme (Spring Semester) – 2014.

Eligibility :

1. Master’s Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ Science/ Engineering/ Technology or 
2. Master’s Degree in allied subject with consistently good academic record and a minimum 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree.
3. BE/ B. Tech with an aggregate of 80% marks or equivalent CGPA with valid GATE Score. 
4. A fellowship in Chartered Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship from a recognized Indian or a foreign institution with not less than 60% or equivalent CGPA having a minimum of Bachelor’s degree. Prerequisites for admission and area of research are given in the TU web - site: www.tezu.ernet.in

Selection Process :

• Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of Entrance test and personal interview conducted by the concerned Department.
• Reservation of seats and relaxation of marks will be as per Govt. of India Rules.

How to apply :

• Tezpur University Application Form together with the Prospectus can be obtained from the designated Post Offices by paying Rs. 520/- ( Rs 270/- for SC/ST) only in cash.The designated Post Offices are

• The application may also be submitted online from the University Website. Procedure for online submission of application form can be found from the appropriate link given there. Printout of the online submitted application form along with other relevant documents and the Bank Challan copy after payment of the cost of the application form in SBI must be sent to the concerned Department so as to reach there before the last date.
• Receipt of printout (in case of online submission) or filled in application form (in case of manual application) along with all required documents at the relevant Department within December 03, 2013 is mandatory.

• Issue of printed Prospectus and Application Form/ date of opening of the Online Application : 7th-29th November , 2013
• Last date of receipt of application in the concerned Department : December 3, 2013
• Date of closing the Online Application / Last date of receipt of print out of the online application in the concerned Department : December 3, 2013.
