Admission To Ph.D / M.Tech.(Research) Programmes 

Starting Spring Semester (January), 2013-14.

Applications are invited online from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech.(Research) Programmes of the Institute with or without fellowship for Spring Semester 2013-14. The programs are being offered in the following streams :

Eligibility Criteria (for Ph.D.) :

The minimum qualification required for admission to Ph.D. programme in Engineering, Science, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences is one of the following :

1. M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate in both B.Tech. (or M.Sc./B.Pharm/ MCA) and M.Tech. levels from a recognized technical Institute or University.
2. B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA of 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate.
3. M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with CGPA 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines.
4. M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with CGPA 6.5 or 60 percent marks in aggregate.

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for Ph.D. in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences:  

• M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Eligibility Criteria (for MS Research) :

The minimum qualification required for admission to M.Tech (Research) programme in Engineering, Science, Management, and Humanities & Social Science is one of the following:

• B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).
• M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) in relevant disciplines.
• M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc. with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).

Additionally candidates having the following qualification can also apply for M.Tech.(R). in Management and Humanities & Social Sciences :

• M.A. / MBA / M.Com. /M. Sc. in Humanities, or Social Sciences or Management with 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA. 

Financial Support :

• Fellowships/Assistantships are available to meritorious Ph.D. and M.Tech (Res) students of all departments.
• Apart from the Institute fellowship, applications are also invited from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech (Research) Programmes under Centre of Excellence (CoE) on "Orthopedic Tissue Engineering and Rehabilitation" in BM department.
  The fellowship will be given from special Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme - Centre of Excellence (TEQIP-CoE) grant as long as the project is in operation. Ph .D.
  students will be automatically transferred to institute fellowship on completion of the project, provided they satisfy the Institute Fellowship norms . The total duration of the fellowship is limited to 4 or 5 years as stated in table above.
  The academic eligibility and selection procedure is same as that mentioned above.
• Candidates with individual external fellowships (CSIR/UGC NET/DST/INSPIRE etc.) are invited to apply. The selection process will be same as that for other candidates.

3. read the instructions to fill up the online application form 
4. fill up and submit the online pplication form accordingly
5. pay application fee of Rs.500/- online from online application portal.
6. Sponsored candidates are required to submit the scannedcopy of the sponsorship certificate while submitting online application.

Applicants are not required to send hard copy of the application form or any other document to NIT Rourkela. However, candidates who will be called for interview will be required to submit signed copy of the application form, a set of Xerox copies of all certificates and original sponsorship certificate (for sponsored candidates only) at the time of interview. They also need to produce original certificates from HSC onwards for verification. The same will be forwarded to the Academic Office by the department for record.

Ph.D. programmes @ Thapar University Patiala for December 2013

Thapar University Patiala is inviting applications for admission to Ph.D. programmes for December 2013.

Eligibility :

• Candidates with ME/ M.Tech/M.Phil / MCA/ M.Sc / MA /MBA/CA or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded or NET (UGC/CSIR) qualified are eligible.
• Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree or equivalent with excellent academic record (minimum CGPA of 9.00 on 10 point scale or 80% marks in aggregate) may be considered for admission.
• Relaxation in CGPA to 7.00 on a 10 -point scale or in marks to 65% for the minimum eligibility conditions may be permitted for candidates with a BE / B.Tech degree or equivalent who have a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or research experience in the area in which the admission is sought.
• Candidates admitted with BE/B.Tech or equivalent qualification will be admitted for PhD after successful completion of eight Masters level courses as suggested by the PhD Admission Committee of concerned Department/School, within a period of two years from the date of admission.
• A minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10- point scale should be earned in the courses prescribed by the concerned Department/School.

Admission procedure :

1. Candidates shall be admitted on the basis of merit of Entrance Test and Interview to be conducted by the University.
2. The candidates who secure minimum of 20% marks in the written exam shall only be called for Interview.
3. During interview, a candidate is required to indicate area of research.
4. Relaxation for appearing in the Entrance Test may be given by the University to those candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF).
