Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994. The objects of this Central University as envisaged in the statutes are that it shall strive to offer employment oriented and interdisciplinary courses to meet the regional to national aspirations and the development of the state of Assam and also offer courses and promote research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in the emerging areas in Science and Technology. Applications in prescribed format are invited from the eligible candidates for admission into the Ph.D. programme (Spring Semester) – 2014.

Eligibility :

1. Master’s Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ Science/ Engineering/ Technology or 
2. Master’s Degree in allied subject with consistently good academic record and a minimum 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree.
3. BE/ B. Tech with an aggregate of 80% marks or equivalent CGPA with valid GATE Score. 
4. A fellowship in Chartered Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship from a recognized Indian or a foreign institution with not less than 60% or equivalent CGPA having a minimum of Bachelor’s degree. Prerequisites for admission and area of research are given in the TU web - site: www.tezu.ernet.in

Selection Process :

• Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of Entrance test and personal interview conducted by the concerned Department.
• Reservation of seats and relaxation of marks will be as per Govt. of India Rules.

How to apply :

• Tezpur University Application Form together with the Prospectus can be obtained from the designated Post Offices by paying Rs. 520/- ( Rs 270/- for SC/ST) only in cash.The designated Post Offices are

• The application may also be submitted online from the University Website. Procedure for online submission of application form can be found from the appropriate link given there. Printout of the online submitted application form along with other relevant documents and the Bank Challan copy after payment of the cost of the application form in SBI must be sent to the concerned Department so as to reach there before the last date.
• Receipt of printout (in case of online submission) or filled in application form (in case of manual application) along with all required documents at the relevant Department within December 03, 2013 is mandatory.

Ph.D notification 2014 @ Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB)

RGCB prepares individuals who have a deep and genuine interest in discovery science to shape the translation of biotechnology through academic research towards applications for a knowledge economy, business development and science of tomorrow. 

RGCB in 2014 will work out of three campuses, the present one focusing on discovery science, a second one for innovation and the third - a biotech park in Kochi focusing on translation and partnership with industry. 

This is the only institute of its kind in the country. Previous RGCB PhD's have all done impressive work and received excellent placements (details can be viewed here). 

Guided by an expert faculty, a rigorous fundamental science course work and a host of innovative academic programs, the RGCB PhD program is made even richer by its place in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of "Gods own country". 

Applications are invited twice a year and advertised in selected national newspapers and on the RGCB website. 

Vacancies that are available in different laboratories and interdisciplinary programs will be put up on the website. 

Admission Procedure for 2014

Minimum Eligibility for applicants :

• Post graduate degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Agriculture Sciences, Medical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Chemical Sciences
• General category applicants must have First Class or above in all examinations from 12th grade plus a valid Research Fellowship from UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/DST-INSPIRE and should be less than 28 years of age as on 01 January 2014.
• SC/ST candidates with a valid fellowship need to have only 50% marks, will be eligible for age relaxation as per rules, and are exempt from processing fees.
• Candidates with other fellowships are advised to contact the Dean to confirm eligibility.
• Candidates awaiting final exam results can also apply. However only those candidates with a valid pass certificate will be allowed to appear for the selection interview.
• Candidates without valid fellowships need not apply.

Important Dates :

• Last date for submission of filled in application form : December 6, 2013.
• Names of candidates called for the selection interview will be displayed on the RGCB website on December 9, 2013 and will also be notified by email the same day.
• Short listing will be done after interview and final selection of candidates after Faculty Interaction, to be held from January 6 to 10, 2014.
• The PhD program will begin on January 20, 2014.

Step 3

Please select a department name to perform either of the following

• To fill your application of the corresponding department for first time.

• To update your already filled application of the corresponding department.

Step 4

Fill or update your application details by clicking on appropriate links. Please note that once you fill or update the information in the appropriate form you need to click on either save/update button so that your data will be stored in our system.

Step 5

Download the challan by Clicking here and pay the fee in the bank. The Application fee is 400/- for General/OBC category and 200/- for SC/ST category. Upload the scanned copy of your bank challan by clicking the link provided in Main Forms Page.

Step 6

Upload your photograph by clicking on the link provided in Main Forms Page.

Step 7

You should take printout of your application for the department you have chosen by clicking on the link provided in Main Forms Page. Note that this printout need to be carried when you are called for Interview/Written Test. This application should not be mailed or posted to us.

Step 8

If you are called for the Written test/Interview you need to carry all your documents, printout of your application (Which you can generate by selecting the appropriate link on Main Forms Page), challan and certificates with you.

Step 9

One can apply to several departments. If you want to apply to several departments you need to fill a separate application for each department you want to apply. To fill your application for the department "XYZ" first login to our system and choose "XYZ" in the list of department names. Please note that you need to fill all your details for each department. Please note that you need to pay the application fee separately for each department.

Step 10

You can keep on updating your application,upload the challan and photo till the last date.

Step 11

"Incomplete application will not be accepted".
