IISER Pune invites online applications for Admission to PhD Programme in Biology, Ecology & Evolution, Chemistry, Earth & Climate Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics

Application Procedure:

• Only online applications will be accepted.
• The candidates must carefully fill and submit the online application form on or before the specified date.
• Last date of Application for all the discipline is 15th April 2016
• After the last date, all applications will be screened and candidates selected for interviews will be intimated by email.

• Candidates who are appearing or are about to appear for final examinations of the qualifying degree program are eligible to apply for PhD program. However, if selected, admission to the PhD program would be conditional upon their completing the qualifying degree with the defined marks criteria, before 1st August 2016.
• Selection will be based on interviews of the short-listed candidates.
• Relaxation of eligibility criteria for SC/ST and PD applicants will be as per Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates, if selected.
• Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. The respective departments may use additional criteria (based on academic performance and/or performance in the national level tests) in order to shortlist candidates for interviews depending on the number of applications received.

Ph.D. admission notification @ CCMB, Hyderabad

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, invites applications from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens, to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph. D. Degree. The projects offered for Ph.D. would be in the broad areas of Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Developmental Biology, Nanobiology, Plant Molecular Biology, Conservation Biology, Protein Structure and Function, Biology of Macromolecules, Biology of Infection, Epigenetics, Chromatin Biology and Bioinformatics.

Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply :

1. Candidates with a Master’s degree in any branch of science or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Pharmacy or Medicine having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies, e.g., CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, etc.), DST-INSPIRE or any other equivalent fellowship can only apply. Valid fellowship is an absolute requirement for pursuing PhD at this Centre.
2. Candidates qualified only for lecturer-ship in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination need not apply.
3. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 11.11.2013 which is relaxable by 5 years as per GoI rules for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates. 

How to apply : 

• Candidates who satisfy the above criteria may submit their applications online by 11.11.2013. 
• Candidates selected for the written test will be intimated through email by 19.11.2013.

Written Test and Interview : 

• The online applications will be screened and the eligible candidates will be called for written test on 11.12.2013 at CCMB, Hyderabad. 
• Candidates qualified in the written test will have to appear for interview on 12.12.2013 and 13.12.2013. 
• Candidates selected in the interview will be asked to stay for discussions on 14.12.2013.
• Travelling Allowance is not payable by CCMB and candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay, etc. at Hyderabad.

Candidates qualified in CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship or ICMR-JRF or DBT-JRF or any other equivalent fellowship can also walk in on the day of the written test (11th December 2013) at 7.30 AM into CCMB along with proof of their qualification for the respective fellowship.

Mere fulfilment of the minimum requirements stipulated in the notification would not automatically entitle a person for selection. The decision of the Centre in this regard shall be final. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.

Minimum Educational Qualification requirement :

Ph.D. (Engineering) : 

• M.Tech./ME/M. Sc. (Engg.) degree or equivalent
• B. Tech/BE/M. Sc. degree with a valid GATE score.

Ph.D. (Sciences and HSS) :

Part-time/Sponsored Category Candidates :

• Three years of relevant experience is needed for those with M. Tech degree and five years of relevant experience is needed for those with B. Tech or M. Sc. degree. This category is only for those who are working in research labs or in similar institutions. Please note that no financial assistance will be provided under this category.

Financial Assistance :

• Financial Assistance in the form of assistantship/ scholarship/ fellowship for a specified duration will be provided to eligible Ph.D. students (FULL TIME) as per the Institute norms or as per the funding agency norms (UGC / CSIR / DBT/ NBHM/ INSPIRE) of the assistantship.
